I spent some time on Sunday cleaning up a small portion of Lee Street (between Eugene and MLK), but a majority of my efforts were spent on MLK. I haven’t adopted MLK, but while walking home from the Ole Asheboro community cookout on Saturday I noticed that some trash had accumulated so I thought I’d lend a helping handt.
While I was out and about I saw everything from used condoms, drug dealers, pimps and transvestite prostitutes. On the other hand, I also encountered a guy fresh out of jail that has an interest in turning his life around and getting involved with the community. There were also lots of smiling faces and folks that decided to help pick up a little trash along the way.

I hope it is as clear to you as it is to me that many parts of District 2 have been neglected for quite some time. That stops right now.
