Sunday’s Safety First Event at Center City Park

Safety First

I’m not sure if you know, but there was a great event held at Center City Park this weekend called “Safety First.” It was a safety awareness event that involved the GPD, GFD and Parks & Recreation (I’m sure others were involved as well).

The departments brought their “toys,” aka safety vehicles, out for the kids (big and small) to look at and there was also plenty of free food being served.

The weather could not have been better, and as always, the kids really enjoyed the water feature at the park. If you’ve never run through the arch of water seen above, you really should… at least once. You’ll laugh like you’re a kid again and I can almost guarantee you’ll have a huge smile on your face when you’re finished.

McGruff

As you can see from the photo above I managed to make a new friend at the event, McGruff the crime dog. By the way, I’m the goofy looking guy on the right with the crooked sunglasses.

Note: it would be nice to have a water fountain installed at Center City Park. I’m not sure if it is a best practice to leave them out of parks of this nature, but on a hot sunny day, access to drinking water would be nice.
