The photo above is of me asking a question at last nights packed town hall meeting with State Senator Don Vaughan. A majority of the meeting could be summed up by saying there was lots of discussion about what organizations and citizens need, but even more discussion about how little money the state has to work with.

Vaughan was faced with several clean election questions and he mentioned that he would like for the Greensboro City Council to take a position on the matter. He stated that Mayor Yvonne Johnson is the only person that has formally backed clean elections… and that he has reached out to others, but hasn’t received a response.

There was a lady at the meeting representing one of the various neighborhoods negatively impacted by the urban loop and Vaughan made it clear that he felt the neighborhood received the short end of the stick. I think everyone in the room felt sympathetic for the situation, especially when she said her “plants dance around due to the vibration from the road.” Vaughan further mentioned that he isn’t sure why the City continues to put water and sewer in the path of the loop and allowing homes to be built, homes that will eventually be torn down. The situation could simply leave you dumbfounded.

All and all I think a lot of information was shared and the meeting was worth while.
