My campaign launched on April 29th and I thought I’d do a quick summary of some of the things I’ve talked about thus far in the more than 70 blog posts made on this site:
- Discussed the need for additional bike lanes in Greensboro
- Continued to highlight rundown houses in District 2 and stated my desire to have them torn down or rehabilitated
- Issued a starting point for revamping the appointment process to our Boards & Commissions
- Actively hit on the result of poor planning and highlighted neighborhoods being negatively impacted by the urban loop
- Researched various issues with the library, such as how to possibly increase funding
- Adopted a third street, Phillips Ave., picked up trash and had the City place trash cans at several high traffic pedestrian area
- Opposed the reopening of the White Street landfill and also had two news stories done on the issue
- Chosen to take part in Impact Greensboro
- Admitted a campaign mistake
- Asked the City Council to look into creating an ordinance that would require recycling to be offered at all apartment complexes in Greensboro
- Cleaned up more trash and learned where you can buy bootleg DVD’s on Lee St.
- Had my photo taken with McGruff the crime dog
- Highlighted that the library system needs a way to filter porn
- Discussed two specific improvements that I want to see happen with GTA
- Announced my intentions to launch a scholarship program for District 2 youth
Hopefully that gives you an idea of some of the things I’ve done to this point. There is much more to come, but what is exciting is that we are just getting started!
