I went to the Land Development Ordinance (LDO) meeting last night and was one of only a handful of people in attendance. Of those at the meeting I think there was only one person that was not a candidate (I was the only candidate), employee or someone that serves on a Board that has had a hand in the project.
In short, the City has been going through the process of rewriting the LDO for several years and the project is on the downswing. As I sat through the meeting and thought about the lack of attendance I eventually raised my hand and asked the following question,
“Will a summary be created so that citizens know what is changing in this ordinance? By doing that it might be easier for folks to figure out how this affects them and ask the appropriate questions.”
The City does not currently have a summary of this nature, but it sounded like something that they might do down the road. Most of the information is very dry and not something most people deal with day in and day out. The more we can do to help folks understand what is being changed the better off we’ll be.
