GTA Enhancement Could Educate & Create Convenience

Public transportation is something I am a huge fan of, and possibly one of the reasons I like to vacation in locations where renting a car isn’t 100% necessary. While there are lots of folks that use GTA, there are even more that don’t.

I’ve talked with a good number of folks about why they’ve never ridden the bus in Greensboro and a majority of the answers center around not knowing how to use the system. For instance, visit the GTA site and let me know how quickly you can figure out how to get from your house to… let’s say Friendly Center. You’ll quickly notice that you have to click around and it might take you a bit to even figure out when and where you need to start your trip. What if the process were easier and more inviting to new riders?

For example, click over to http://triangletransit.org. You will quickly see a difference in the two Web sites – I know I did. One thing that I really like is the Transit Trip Planner that allows you to put in a start and end point, as well as a departure and arrival time. That is a huge convenience to riders!

I think it would be a great idea for GTA to try and incorporate this same technology. By doing so we might be able to increase the number of folks who use public transportation in Greensboro and further advance the system.
