Board of Adjustments Meeting: Mack Trucks Sign

by Ryan Shell on June 23, 2009

You may or may not know this, but I serve on Greensboro’s Board of Adjustments (BOA). We had a pretty lengthy meeting yesterday and heard a vast number of cases, one of which was a variance request that would allow Mack Trucks to have a 30 foot sign (versus the 15 foot allowed height) at their new corporate headquarters.

Should everything continue as planned the company will be located on National Service Road next to their sister company, Volvo Trucks, by sometime in August. The BOA has to abide by some pretty strict standards and it took some time to come up with a strategy that would allow the variance to fly. Needless to say, the variance was approved and they will be able to have a sign that is in harmony with the other headquarters in the area.

Mack Trucks has been located in Pennsylvania for a very long time, so this move is monumental for the organization. It will be great to have them in Greensboro.
